TORONTO - Rob Ford’s city hall has inspired another book — but this one sounds more like Animal Farm than Crazy Town.
Beaver Pond, by Paul Harbridge, is set to be presented on Twitter over 12 days starting on Monday.
Beaver Pond is a “darkly humorous tale,” says a press release about the satire.
“An abrasive porcupine named Rock who, accompanied by his brother Digger, takes over the leadership of a hapless beaver colony, thoroughly rattling the establishment before succumbing to his own prickly demons,” reads the description released on Thursday. “The aim of the book is not to judge but to take a humorous look at how we all reacted to someone who disturbed our complacency.”
Rather than a crack cocaine problem, the main character in this story battles a cranberry addiction.
“Shortly after being named Grand Rodent by the High Council of Beavers, a rumour starts to circulate that Rock has been spotted down at Cranberry Corners, the nefarious hangout of losers and ne’er-do-wells,” the description reads.
Characters named “Margaret Eatwood” and “Dustin Beaver” also pop up in the book along with a comedian by the name of “Jimmy Otter.”
