Canadian/American Merger

Due to the thread:
Is a Canada-U.S. merger the cure for ‘creeping takeover’ by the world's big players?
and the exchanges I have read on that thread, I am curious about people's desire to join our cousins to the south. Unlike many on here I do not feel we are alike...I feel we are similar but not alike.

I would not wish to merge under any circumstances.

That pretty much sums it up. We seem to be a bit of a hybrid between the US and western Europe with most things. I have no interest in a merger regardless of any economic 'benefits' that may or may not come with it.
