OTTAWA — The RCMP interviewed the prime minister’s former right hand in the Senate as part of an ongoing investigation into the expense scandal the day before her sudden resignation from that post.
Sen. Marjory LeBreton confirmed Wednesday that she has been contacted by the Mounties and was interviewed July 3. She resigned as government leader in the Senate on July 4.
“As I expected, I was approached by the RCMP,” she told QMI Agency, but added, “I want to be very clear - there is no absolutely no link between the interview on July 3rd and my media statement the very next day.”
