ok so for anyone who can remember those significant Vacations (these are ones that you don't do all the time, visiting Grandma/Grandpa doesn't count!) Where have you been? how long did you go? try to remember them in chronological order if you can :)

well hmmm.. I Guess I will try to remember my own

the earliest ones I can remember going on are

Kelowna B.C. when I was about 6 yrs old, My family went there with one of my Dad's brother's family. We saw the old Bedrock City they used to have years ago. I think it was for a week but I am not sure 100%

Then there is skiing to Kimberly B.C. like a few years or so later, so like 10 yrs old? 1988, again with the same group of people. They really enjoy skiing and we went there too. that was just for a weekend.

then the longest vacation I went for in 1991 was out to the East, I went with the family, we were all over, we went to North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, New York State, Michigan, Minnesota, and then Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec that was 2 weeks.

1995 I flew out by myself to Prince Edward Island for a week. that was by far at the time my best vacation.

1998 I went to Las Vegas with 12 other family members, were there for 4 days.

didn't go anywhere for a while.

2006 back to Vegas 4 days with my brother.

2008 to Cuba for 9 days with the family. that was a pretty great trip! :)

2009 I took my female friend on a 9 day drive through the interior of B.C. to Vancouver and Victoria, camping.

in 2011 I am suppose to go to New York City in the Summer, not sure if it'll be myself alone or not.

so who else? where have you been?

ok so for anyone who can remember those significant Vacations ...
Nice idea Chili, I remember two particularly vividly.

There was a month-long driving tour we took when the children were 8 and 10 years old, across southern Saskatchewan and Alberta, and a long loop down through Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. The kids still talk about it 18 years later. Standouts: the Royal Tyrell Museum, Helena Montana (beautiful and charming little city), Caspar Wyoming, Yellowstone, Black Hills, Little Big Horn, Roche Percee, the badlands... Some spectacular scenery, especially for someone trained in geology (the kids came back convinced Dad knows everything; unfortunately they now know otherwise), wonderful people, the weather was perfect the whole time, one of the best vacations ever. The photo album from that trip is by far the most heavily thumbed of our collection.

The second one was a sort of working vacation with myself and some co-workers. Our employer sent six of us to Egypt for two weeks as part of a foreign aid project, and while we were there we made a point of being tourists too, as much as we could. We spent almost one whole weekend exploring the Egyptian Museum, which was just across the square the hotel was on, and didn't see everything in it. But we did see the Tutankhamen display in its home setting, and the mummy of the great Ramses II (tiny little man by modern standards). And we spent a long day on foot on the Giza Plateau with those famous pyramids. And I assure you, no photograph, no description, can do that place justice, the heart-stopping immensity of those monuments and walking along the avenues where the ancient kings of Egypt once walked is a stunning experience no mere words or images can convey. Ya gotta be there.

I spent four years in Australia and saw most of that country as well as a good deal of New Zealand. I regard that as an extended working vacation. One of the highlights of my life.

Drove from Edmonton to southern Mexico when I was in my twenties. Hit every archeological site I could find. Fantastic vacation.

Drove from Edmonton to Cape Canaveral and watched the Apollo 11 Moon launch. One of the great moments in history.

Spent 20 days in Japan. Incredible cultural experience. One I will never forget.

As a child it was the trips across Alberta and into Saskatchewan that always stuck. They were so time consuming that as a family we never did any other trips aside from one or two that seemed somehow less significant, into the mountains.

For my kids, traveling home to family has also taken precedent, to the point that we've really only done one family trip that would stand out for them, and that was driving to Enderby BC, camping for two weeks on the way there and back. It was awesome.

Me personally, I did a two week trip to Paris 2 years ago, and this year, a 9 day trip to St.Johns.

one of mine was just a few years ago. Stopped in Edmonton on our way through to Prince George and the great circle route through BC to visit relatives. Had a GREAT time. Met 2 very sexy ladies and their SO's along with a couple of very well behaved children. Had a few drinks, BS'd, a good time over all.

This past summer, a week at the Grand Canyon was awesome, but last year, 2 wks in China was pretty cool.

Spent 3 wks driving around England about 15 years ago, that was pretty cool. Stayed in a B and B in Cornwall, which is a farm owned by the Prince of Wales, he'd come and stay there for a week every year and work on the farm.

Spent two months on the island of Ibiza in 1970. First time out of Canada. Went with my first wife. I had a great time, she didn't. Marriage went to hell after that.

Did two months in central America in '88 with two friends traveling around Costa Rica and Guatemala. Visited the Monte Verde cloud forest with the largest variety of wild plants, animals, birds and bugs in the world. Fell in love with the Mayan people, beautiful, graceful and gracious.

But my greatest holiday was the ten years I spent living in the forest with my second wife, some goats, dogs, ducks and rabbits, living on fish, berries and wild crafted foods.

This year has had the most memorable travel for me.

I had a corporation bring me to Toronto to discuss my internet hobby. Stayed downtown for most of the week and had a few meetings in their head office. Not only was it a fun time, it was an incredible experience.

This summer we did Disneyland a returned home by cruise ship. Had a blast.

Just got home a few days ago from a Vancouver convention where our little part of the internet got worldwide attention.

This year has been quite the ride.
