I'm just curious as to what the population of Newfoundland is looking like these days. Yesterday we hired 3 more Newfounlanders at work. Two gals and one guy. All between 25 and 40. All 3 of them already have friends here from 'back home' they are staying with. Then I get home and there is a news story about a job info session in Newfoundland with over a thousand folks lined up. Most, if not all were between 18 and 40.
Newfoundlanders make great Albertans but who is manning the fort back in that province? The breeding age population is largely leaving and has been for some time. If you go to a small town in Newfoundland is it largely folks 40 plus in age? Are there many children? Alberta has Canada's youngest population (mostly from other provinces) but what's happening in Newfoundland? How does it sustain this population exodus? Is there any honest assessments of what the population of Newfoundland will be in 20 or 30 years?
