Eleven Bravery Decorations Announced

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., the Governor General of Canada, today announced that she would be awarding eleven persons with the Bravery Decoration. The Cross of Valour is awarded for acts of courage in situations of extreme danger; the Star of Courage is awarded for acts of courage in very dangerous situations; the Medal of Bravery is given for acts of courage in hazardous circumstances.

The persons who have been announced to receive the decoration are:
  • Constable Ralph Terrance, M.B.;
  • R.C.M.P. Constable Jonathon Brown, M.B.;
  • R.C.M.P. Constable Chad Greig, M.B.;
  • R.C.M.P. Constable Gregory Keeler, M.B.;
  • Kenneth Klassen, M.B.;
  • Constable Daniel MacPhee, M.B.;
  • Brent McDonald, M.B.;
  • R.C.M.P. Constable Leane McNeill, M.B.;
  • Constable Jerome Richard, M.B.;
  • William Nimick, M.B.; and,
  • R.C.M.P. Constable Eyjolfur Smith, M.B.
The date of the awards ceremony at Rideau Hall has yet to be announced.
