Hey guys,

I am doing market research on the Canadian market from New Zealand. There is more information about this and myself in the Introduction thread.

I am just wondering what are your views on wool:

Do you think that it is just for winter?
Is it itchy?
Is it comfortable?
Where does the best wool in the world come from?
Do you know much about merino wool?
Etc

Just any comments about what you think about wool is fine or what you think the majority of Canadians think towards wool.

This is just so I can get a feel for Canadians perception of wool and wool based products.

Thanks

I hate wool socks. Especially the ones my grannie used to knit for me. Ban ALL wool socks.

Wool sweaters can be itchy too, but not always. Washing them can be a pain sometimes, but worth the care if you remember to handwash or use the gentle cycle with ice water.

Do you think that it is just for winter?

No

Is it itchy?

Yes

Is it comfortable?

Yes

Where does the best wool in the world come from?

From Alpacas

Do you know much about merino wool?

It grows on Merino sheep.

Frankly most of don't know much about wool and could care less. I like wool-blend socks year 'round. Isn't this commercial spam?

My Opinions on Wool

:?: Do you think that it is just for Winter?

No, certainly not. Wool is widely appropriate for the three other seasons, as well.

:?: Is it itchy?

Yes, somewhat, in my opinion. Not enough to deter me from wearing it, though.

:?: Is it comfortable?

Notwithstanding the "itch" factor, yes, comfortable enough. It can get quite warm though, and sometimes the temperature can make the wool become uncomfortable. It also soaks up water and retains it extremely well, so wet weather would be a big "no-no."

:?: Where does the best wool in the world come from?

On this, I have absolutely no idea.

:?: Do you know much about merino wool?

What-now wool?

I'm casting my vote for Harris Tweed :) From the Scottish Isles and unique for the quality of the wool and the craftmanship put into the garments.
