So you think being concerned about the environment and work place safety is bad business. Typical conservative: self centered and focused only on the bottom line of their own pocket book. Don't buck the status quo, full steam ahead with the rape and pillage mentality and damn future generations. Good for Cook for standing up to those Neanderthal thugs.

That would cripple the company and make their shares worthless. Sounds stupid to me. Why not have an ethical company? What is wrong with ethics?
I know but maximizing ROI will eventually make this planet uninhabitable. There is only a finite amount of resources to plunder.

The cycles of regeneration in cycle need time to be effective. The problem is that we're exploiting most of our resources too quickly and in wasteful ways (like burning fossil fuels, a non-renewable energy instead of using it for durable stuff like plastic...)
Our food supply is continually renewed. Our oxygen supply is continually renewed. Our water supply is continually renewed. Our weather systems are continually renewed. Our oil and gas supplies are continually renewed (abiotic theory). Our terrestrial landforms are continually renewed. Humans think they are so powerful; think again.
That sounds a little like horse___T. Our oxygen supply is normally renewed but we are doing our best to kill the plants and plankton that do the renewing. Our fresh water supply is constantly being threatened. Your comment on weather was ridiculous. Our supply of oil and gas is finite and we waste more every day.
Yeah. I was wondering if there might be problems from the standpoint of fiduciary duty and securities law violations.
