well I didnt really have it in mind, it was the only place where I found a furnished apartment for the time we need it, so we took it. Could turn out to be a good idea or a bad one we'll see My question is why did you choose East Vancouver as a place to stay?

It wouldn't matter where you choose to live....crime is everwhere....some criminals just have more expensive tastes....criminals travel around...so don't think that by living in a swanky neighbourhood you will be spared. Take some standard precautions and more than likely you'll be fine. For example; women with purses are easy targets. Try carrying your belongings in a waist pack or keeping your wallet hidden in a pocket...leave the purse at home.
Walk tall and confident and you are less likely to be a target.
