Vancouver "idiots" who recorded a homeless man setting his own hair on fire are incurring the wrath of the online community.

In a video posted Monday to liveleak.com under the title 'Crackhead Lights Hair on Fire,' several men identified as the "bro" variety can be heard encouraging the man to do it.

"All of it, all, all," one unidentified man can be heard saying off camera as the subject takes a lighter to the back of his own head.

He is seen cupping the flame as several men cheer him on.

"Yeah, yeah, burn it. Yeah, yeah, get it, good," one man instructs. "No, no you're not doing it."

The subject, who appears to be in his late 30s or 40s, moves the flame in closer and smoke begins to rise from the back of his head.

As his hair catches on fire, men begin to laugh and cheer.

"All of it!" someone orders.

Other men then interfere and plead for the subject to stop.

"Dude, dude, dude, don't burn your hair," one says, just as the flames engulf the back of the man's head.

It's at this point a young man enters the frame and offers the subject something in exchange for him to put out the flames.

"Stop burning it! I will give you this for free if you stop burning it," he says as he approaches the subject.

The young man then hands over what appears to be a cigarette.

According to details contained within the video posting, the exchange happened in Gastown on Nov. 9.

It had garnered more than 49,000 views and some choice words for the man's cheering section by Wednesday morning,

"That guy hangs out around my office, totally harmless with mental health problems, not a cracky. Douchebags," one commenter wrote.

Police have told Global News they are aware of the video, but indicated there is nothing within the 30-second clip to suggest anything criminal took place.
