Skeleton athlete and entrepreneur Christine "Tink" Newman is recovering in hospital in Vancouver after miraculously surviving a night in a tree well near Whistler, B.C.
Newman, 24, of Calgary, ventured out on a snowshoe day hike in Garibaldi Park last Monday and decided to spend the night at a warming hut.
About 2 a.m. Tuesday, she went outside for a washroom break and became disoriented in the darkness.
While crawling through the deep snow -- she didn't take her snow shoes when she popped outside -- she fell into a tree well.
The next day the group from the hut, who thought Christine had gone back to the parking lot 14 km away, set off on the trail and thankfully spotted her orange backpack along the way.

CALGARY -- The miraculous revival of a resilient Christine Newman has left even her doctor amazed at her remarkable recovery.
Newman was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital last Tuesday after spending up to seven hours in a tree well, and undergoing four hours of CPR by bystanders and search and rescue crews.
She had been found in the well moaning, but her heart stopped soon after due to the cold, said critical care physician Dr. Vinay Dhingra.
"The reason she could stay alive, she was getting enough blood flow with the CPR in the setting of very low body temperature," he said.
