Many who support the campaign are much more interested in the cost to taxpayers of policing marijuana and the fact that gangs play a huge part in their distribution.

Thanks for your input though.

Yep, real sensible to drown your brain with drugs or alcohol, have fun kiddies.

Whats sensible is irrelevant. Its their bodies and they should be able to do whatever they want with them for good or ill. Its not a secret that these things have negative side effects. If they are willing to take the risk - go for it.

Given BC is next to a place that just legalized it I imagine the referendum will probably succeed.

They are all a bunch of potheads and could actually care less about policing costs. They merely want drugs cheaper, but lets not talk about the truth.

It is not about making it cheaper. There is no evidence anywhere that it would sell for less than it does now. It is about removing the criminal attachment just like they did with alcohol.

There are actually 2 ways to go about this.

The first is decriminalization which allows the cops to confiscate your stash and give you a fine but you don't get a criminal record. This also keeps charges such as trafficking and cultivation for trafficking. Many people think this is the better route to take as it gives the ones using for recreation a pass while still punishing the dealers and growers.

The second is legalization. This removes pot and it's derivatives (hash, oil, etc) from the list of prohibited substances making it entirely legal to use, possess, grow and sell. There is a strong movement for this solution with the caveat that is remains restricted, like alcohol, to adults. That means you could still get a charge of contributing to a minor. The benefit of this program is not just the savings on police costs and time but also the govt can grow and sell in liquor outlets for a fair price with taxes. This means less spent and more revenue, a win-win.

Maybe you should educate yourself about the situation and options available before making your idiotic comments.

What part of, if EVERYONE wanted it, it would be long ago legal, do you not understand? To tell all of BC residents, or even all of Canada that they are stupid for not liking pot is very persuasive right?
We have a very large number of physicians that are not following your lead, they are backed up by a great many people who do not think they need drugs to get by.
I am not against people who need a smoke now and then, i have several friends who do, but i am against people who want everyone else to be locked into those drugs with them.
