Yeah, if ever there was someone who deserved to die horribly it was that psycho, couldn't forgive him for executing Ned Stark, however necessary it may have been to the plot development. But I knew he bought it long before I saw the episode. I've read the books. It gets worse, lots more major characters die, and sometimes I think George R. R. Martin needs a smack upside the head with a 2x4.

Joffrey had earned the distinction of being the most hated person on television. As for who did it, this is going to be the biggest thing since "who shot JR?".

But if you think about it, it's pretty obvious...

Actually there is no shortage of characters with good reason to wish Joffrey dead. I don't think it was Tyrian, but Sansa did hand him the cup didn't she?

Game of Thrones is another example of a successful serial drama that all follow the same formula. Sons of Anarchy, True Blood, Game of Thrones, all high budget soap operas with lots of violence and T & A.

Whoever watches that tripe needs to be chucked into the oubliette at Warwick Castle and left to starve to death.

???? and they say the King is dead, he appears to have survived under a new name. King Blackleaf (Blackheart)

They could replace it with with the 'Game of Drones'

Everyone dies at the end of Hamlet too

I want to give you a thumbs down to for ruining it for me. Lol.

Just read the book...

I gave up watching the program..

They can never compare , eh? I'll read the book after. I can never watch a movie or show if I've read the book. But I can read the book after having watched the movie or show.

People like tripe. I see it at the grocery store.

No, it's all fantasy. From the wiki:

The series, set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos at the end of a decade-long summer, interweaves several plot lines. The first follows the members of several noble houses in a civil war for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the rising threat of the impending winter and the mythical creatures of the North; the third chronicles the attempts of the exiled last scion of the realm's deposed dynasty to reclaim the throne. Through its morally ambiguous characters, the series explores the issues of social hierarchy, religion, loyalty, corruption, civil war, crime, and punishment. It is the most recent big-budget work to have contributed to the popularity of the fantasy genre in mainstream media.

I've never sat through an episode.

so, did you stand the whole time or is it not your cup of tea?

I do believe the fist season's first few episode they attempted to hook viewers by showing lots of boobs. They don't show them as often now...

No, it's all fantasy. From the wiki:

While true a lot of the characters and some of the events were modelled after actual events/people. The author has said that he used Caligula as a model for Joffrey. Also he got inspiration for the 'red wedding' from a similar even that happened in Scotland 5-600 years ago.

They didn't add all the sex and nudity just to attract viewers. That stuff is all over the books and the descriptions are a lot more explicit than what the tv show does. Same with the violence. There's still usually at least one naked or almost naked woman in every episode. In the season premier last week there were at least three.

Even if you haven't read the books you can figure it out if you watch the scene carefully again. There are little hints and a few other things that more or less show who did it.

Great, you know what this means, eh? I'm no longer noticing when people are naked.

It's got a pretty complicated plot line, especially if you have no background in the books like me. You really have to start it from the beginning, even then you will find yourself scratching your head often asking "Now who is this again?" I'm a bit of a TV nut and this series is right up there on my "can't get enough" list. HBO is pretty consistent in their ability to crank out a successful series.

Not my cup of mead.

Are you more of a "Dog the Bounty Hunter" type? ;)
