A Texas mom didn't want to lose the attachment she felt with her babies while breastfeeding, so she came up with a way to keep it forever -- by wearing her breast milk as jewelry.
Bridgette Boudreaux said making breast milk jewelry isn't as complicated as it might sound.
By adding a little preservative in the milk and refrigerating it for a week or so, it comes out solid but pliable. With a little colouring and top-coat resin, the breast milk can be turned into a lasting memento.
She's created breast milk charms for necklaces and rings.
And she's started a business *-- JoBri Milk Charms, Breastmilk Jewelry -- to take orders from other moms interested in having bizarre jewelry made from their own breast milk.
"I love that it is something that mothers can wear as a beautiful piece of art and privately know the significance of the breast milk pearl, life giving and sustaining," she wrote on her Facebook business page. "When I touch my own jewelry it centres and brings a sense of peace to my soul, reminding me of my journey and special connection and bond with my child."
She'll also include bits of umbilical cord in the pieces she creates if sent to her correctly.
