Wickerman and Welcoming Spring
The Wickerman is a Scottish festival held on the eve of the summer solstice.
If you look closely you can see the beer bottle strapped to the right hand. What's a party without beer?
This was our first attempt at doing this. Next year our wickerman will be bigger and better.
It didn't take long for the wickerman to burn. We didn't let him burn completely it was more symbolic than anything else.
At precisely 6:10 we set our wickerman on fire to welcome Spring and ask for a good harvest this year.
We then took some dried hay and stuffed it in to fill out the body wrapping cloth tape around to keep it in place.
We started with some branches for the body and added twigs to fill in the rest.
