moving to Alberta

I am planning to move from Ontario to Alberta, my dad will give me his car.
should I change my ownership here in Ontario or should I wait until I get to Alberta?

You should do it in Alberta because you're going to have to change all the registration paperwork at that time anyway so it will save one set of costs for changing the paperwork.

You will also need to get an out-of-province inspection on the vehcile before registering it:
