Instead of writing tickets, this Edmonton peace officer should be writing rhymes.
A video of officer Halley Barrantes showing off his freestyle rapping skills has gone viral on Facebook in just a few days.
In the video, originally posted by Roxanne Tompkins, Barrantes takes the mic at Edmonton's Winston Churchill Square and gets the crowd around him going.
Barrantes, whose stage name is Tha Witness, also paid a special tribute to a fallen police officer during the rap, saying "put your hands up to the one who gave his life up" in reference to Const. Daniel Woodwall, who was killed earlier this month.
Barrantes told the Edmonton Journal he was trying to have fun with the kids in the crowd and to help make police officers more relatable to youth in the city.
As of Tuesday morning, the video had more than 70,000 views and 1,300 shares on Facebook.
