A standoff in Whitecourt, Alta., that lasted about seven hours ended peacefully when the suspect fell asleep, police say.
Cops responded to a call around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday about a man who'd allegedly been drinking and was threatening to shoot anyone who entered the home.
Officers determined there were three other adults and one child inside the home at the time, and that the man had had a dispute with a relative who was not there.
Around 8:15 a.m., one of the occupants of the home came out and told the officers the suspect had fallen asleep. Police went in and arrested the 41-year-old man. Charges are pending.
No one was hurt.
Whitecourt is about 180 km northwest of Edmonton.
