If the scratches were obvious scratches on real hardwood flooring, that's a bit of a problem as the cost of refinishing a hardwood floor far exceeds the damage deposit ... always. Normal wear and tear doesn't include damaged hardwood floors. Scratches on linoleum are no better.

This is not intended to be defamatory. It is more of a consumer warning. Do not rent from M. Howrish in Edmonton, AB. We saw her take the full damage deposit from of the last tenants (over a grand for a few scratches on the floor and a spot on the grass in the yard...normal wear and tear. Girl ended up leaving mid walk through in tears). Spoken to a neighbor who says over the years she has never returned a damage deposit. Total scam.
