fans, I think the fans are very important to them, but
the owners need the fans in the seats to make the profits,
that is how the fans are important to them.
The fans make the teams play better, create excitement.
Just listen to interviews with players who play for those
southern u.s. teams, where the buildings are only half
full, doesn't change how much the players make, but does
change the energy in the building, and they all say how
much better it is playing in buildings that are full,
and that has nothing to do with money.
Just because their doing a job and getting paid for it
doesn't change anything about their love and desire to
play the game at the highest level, and having the fans
there contribute to that.
There is nothing wrong with it being a business, even the
junior hockey is big business, and without the big gate
money, those teams would be out of a job too.
None of the franchises do anything for nothing, they need
the profits to keep going, amateur and professional
